FAQs

Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) is a sudden decline in kidney function over hours to days, leading to fluid imbalance, electrolyte disturbances, and waste build-up. Early intervention can often reverse damage.

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a gradual loss of kidney function over months to years, often due to diabetes or hypertension. Management includes blood pressure control, dietary adjustments, and monitoring.

Hemodialysis filters blood through a machine to remove toxins and excess fluid, typically done in-center multiple times a week. Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) uses the abdominal lining as a filter, allowing home-based treatment.

A Renal Biopsy involves removing a small kidney tissue sample using a needle guided by ultrasound or CT to diagnose glomerular diseases and tailor treatment.

Transplant Evaluation is a comprehensive assessment—medical, surgical, and psychosocial—to determine a patient’s suitability for kidney transplantation.

Glomerular Diseases affect the kidney’s filtering units (glomeruli), leading to proteinuria and hematuria. Common types include IgA nephropathy and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis.
